The Federal Group of Companies is a privately owned New Zealand group of companies first established in 1995, operating from a Head Office in Newmarket, Auckland.

Federal is a team of motivated construction professionals selectively chosen and established to incorporate highly experienced individuals with a proven collective track record of successfully accomplishing a diverse range of construction projects.

Federal’s aim is to focus solely on providing its clients with a tailor made and professionally managed construction solution at the most competitive cost within the required time frame, yet still meeting the highest in quality standards.

In our business the bottom line is not the company, but the individuals you as a client deal with and here at Federal you deal directly with the Principals.

The company is predominantly involved in Commercial/Industrial, Hotel/Apartments, Historic Refurbishment, Retail and multi unit Residential field of the industry. The skills required to successfully manage these projects are equally applicable and appropriate to most types of construction.

Historically the form of contracts often vary based on either their very nature or the clients specific requirements.

Collectively the senior officers have in excess of 100 years construction industry experience. They have all been with the company since its incorporation in 1995.
All four Directors are shareholders and are involved in the day to day business.

Steve Quine Managing Director

Steve has in excess of 30 years experience in the Auckland construction market. Initially qualifying in carpentry he advanced through site and project management levels in a design build company, where he gained financial and contractual experience before being instrumental in establishing a company in 1988 which developed into a company with a $100m turnover and 60 staff. In 1995 Steve and other key directors jointly established their own company - Federal.

Allen Small Director / Chief Estimator

Allen has been a professional Quantity Surveyor for over 30 years working in professional offices in Auckland and London for the first 10 years. Allen then spent 10 years working for construction companies as a Quantity Surveyor and Estimator before becoming one of Federals founding Directors.

Neville Hazlett Director / Contracts Manager

Neville has been working in the Construction industry for some 32 years, initially training in Wellington with Angus where he qualified with NZCB and CQS before moving north to where he progressed through project management in a Design & Build company in Auckland during the 80’s then onto construction manager during the 90’s, amassing a significant breath of experience before becoming one of the founding owner / directors at Federal in 1995.

Grant Green Director / Contracts Manager

Grant has been in the Auckland construction market for 22 years originally commencing and training at Mainzeal where he qualified with NZCB and Diploma in Building. He then progressed onto site manager level with a design build company on major shopping centre projects. Grant was the project manager at Federal and was responsible for the award winning historic refurbishment of the Old Customhouse into a DFS in 1997 before also becoming an owner / director in the same year.
